Flåm is a small village located at the end of a deep and narrow fjord, in she shadows of
majestic mountains in the western part of Norway. It is also the end stop of one of the
steepest standard gauge railway lines in the world, a major cruise port and close to the
UNESCO World Heritage site Nærøyfjorden. In addition to the amazing nature and scenary,

This is an introduction to the
beautiful village Flåm in Norway and
our Flåm playlist. Flåm is one of
Norway´s most important cruise
ports and end stop of the Flåm
Railway. Here we show some of the

Flåm is one of Norway´s most
important cruise ports and starting
point of the famous Flåm Railway. It
may be a small village, but the
shopping opportunities are massive.

Flåm has several exciting places to
eat, from a viking hall to a historic
private dining room. From food
trucks with international dishes to
fine dining with local produce from
both the fjords and the farms in the
area.
Arven Restaurant at Fretheim Hotel,
the exclusive hotel in Flåm, offers
both a fine dining a-la-carte menu
with local produce and great buffets
where most of the food are from the
fjords and local farms in the area.
Here you will, in our opinion get the

Flåm Bakeri is located by the
seafront at the main pier in Flåm.
Here you can choose from a wide
range of sandwiches, pastry, bread,
ice cream and take away pizza. If
you are a cruise tourist, the bakery is
a perfect place to stock up some
food before you go on an excursion.
If you want a special dining
experience in Flåm, visit Ægir
Brewpub. Here you can enjoy Viking
inspired lunch and dinner, and of
course beer from the micro brewery
in real viking surroundings
We have visited beautiful Flåm and
Fretheim Hotel this autumn. The
stay included a dinner in the historic
wing of the hotel and two nights in
one of the America rooms.
The America rooms at Fretheim
Hotel has large balconies and cool
design in dark blue colours and
leather furniture. The America wing
is the part of the hotel on the right
side of the reception area.
If you want to experience
something special during your stay

Flåm (Flam) is one of the major
cruise ports of Norway. With its
location deep in a Norwegian fjord
in a Unesco World Heritage area,
surrounded by majestic mountains,
waterfalls and the famous Flåm
Railway, many cruise companies
choose to have Flåm on their ports
of call.
The Stegastein Viewpoint is a piece
of impressive architecture located
about 30 min with bus from Flåm
and has a magnificent view over
Aurlandsfjorden from 640 m above.
At the starting point of Flåm
Ziplaine at the top of the Flåm
Valley you will also find a viewing
platform with magnificent view of
the mountains and valley
If you take the Flåm Railway to
Myrdal and walk back towards
Vatnahalsen and head down a few
of the serpentine turns, you pass a
huge waterfall
One of the most amazing activities
you can attend when visiting Flåm,
is to rent a bike in Flåm, bring it
with you on Flåmsbana to Myrdal
and ride it back to Flåm. you follow
the river and pass some beautiful
waterfalls
Nærøyfjorden, an UNESCO world
Heritage Park with amazing
mountains, deep fjords and great
wildlife. Explore it with RIB boats
and spot an eagles, seals and nieses
(small doplhins). The Trip Starts and
ends in Flåm.
The magnificent stretch of railroad
from Flåm, Aurlandsfjorden and the
UNESCO site of Nærøyfjorden up to
the mountains of Myrdal at 867 m
above sea level. The one hour
railroad trip takes you over rivers,
through 20 tunnels, steep mountain
sides and great waterfalls.
The railway museum in the center of
Flåm explains the story behind the
building of this magnificent and
steep railway up the Flåm Valley to
Myrdal.
