Eidfjord is a major cruise port at the deep end of Hardangerfjorden. This small village is the
connection between the fjords and the Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau. This means that
the area has a lot of steep mountains and huge waterfalls, among these the Vøringsfossen
Waterfall, one of the largest in Norway. In this section we recommend attractions both by
the fjord and up in the mountains

Eidfjord Cruise Port
In a normal year, more than 100
cruise ships visit the village Eidfjord,
deep in the Hardangerfjord. In this
video we present Eidfjord and what
to do here for cruise tourists and
other visitors.
We visit Eidfjord, one of Norway’s
busiest cruise ports in winter when
it is quiet and calm, and when the
snow covers the steep mountains
by the fjord.
At the western part of the
Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau,
where the mountains dive into the
fjords, you will find one of Norway´s
largest dams. This is also a tourist
attraction for both visitors passing
by their car and for cruise tourists
visiting Eidfjord in Hardanger.
The third stage of the development
of the spectacular viewpoint
connects both areas with walkways,
a new parking area and restrooms.
A spectacular step bridge over
Vøringsfossen, which makes it
possible to walk over the 182 meter
high waterfall. Here we explore the
lower part of this huge tourist
development with walkways,
benches, stairs and viewpoints
Hardangervidda is the largest
national park in the Nordic region,
spanning over an area of 8600 km2.
In this video we cross
Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau
twice - first in summer, then we
return just after the first snow has
fallen in the beginning of October.
Vøringsfossen Waterfall is propably
the most spectacular waterfall in
Norway. This is a visit to the
magnificent viewing platform at the
top of the waterfall.
