When focusing on norwegian architecture, you have to describe it from two different angles.
We have some exciting Norwegian architects with the world as their arena who design great
buildings in Norway - like Snøhetta and Todd Saunders. But we also have all the well known
famous international architects who create cool signal buildings in Norway - like Renzo
Piano`s Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art or The Twist by Bjarke Ingels group. In this
section we present all types of architecture, from the very modern to old architecture

Architecture
Bryggen is the most famous and
popular attraction in Bergen ant
the third most visited tourist
attraction in Norway. Almost two
million visitors each year explore
this old wooden house quarter
which has been on the Unesco
World Heritage List since 1979.
Vemork Power Plant was when it
opened in 1911 the world´s largest
power plant, but it also played a
main role in the most famous
sabotage operation in Norway
during World War 2
If you want to experience how
corporate VIP´s stays when visiting
Norway, you now have that
opportunity in Rjukan. Norsk
Hydro´s former representation villa,
the Rjukan Admini building was
converted to a small hotel with 15
rooms in 2015.
In the beginning of 2012, Kilden
opened its doors for the first time
and presented a monumental signal
building for the people of
Kristiansand. After the operahouse
in Oslo, this is the second largest
cultural building in Norway.
If a restaurant is the reason for a
journey, you have to offer someting
spectacular. It can be Michelin Star
or Stars, a special location or
spectacular architecture. The
restaurant Under in Lindesnes
check all these boxes.
It has been much controversy
surrounding the new viewpoint in
Arendal. But now it is there, and
from a visitors point of view, it is a
great attraction and a landmark
Lindesnes Lighthouse is the oldest
lighthouse in Norway, located at the
southernmost point of Norway. Here
we visit the modern mountain hall
below the lighthouse with is cafe,
shop, cinema and exhibition hall.
It is not so often you get in a good
mood just to look at a building, but
the refurbishment of the former
storehouse and repair shop for the
farmers cooperative into Eilert
Smith Hotel in Stavanger, does just
that.
The Valberg Tower is a landmark in
Stavanger. With its location in the
middle of the city center, you can
spot it from almost everywhere in
the city. And this also explains why
the first version was built in about
1650 as a watch tower for fires.
Oseana is a unique combination of
an art museum, culture building,
cinema and restaurant with cool
architecture and an amazing
location by a Norwegian fjord, to be
more exact by Bjørnafjorden in Os
municipality outside Bergen.
As part of the project Norwegian
Scenic Routes, overseen by the
Norwegian Public Roads
Administration, a new rest area,
viewpoint and some amazing public
toilets has been built by
Skjervsfossen Waterfalls.
The Stegastein Viewpoint is a piece
of impressive architecture located
about 30 min with bus from Flåm
and has a magnificent view over
Aurlandsfjorden from 640 m above.
The Astrup Fearnley museum at
Tjuvholmen in Oslo, was designed
by Renzo Piano. It holds the largest
collection of modern art in Norway
including Jeff Koons' Michael
Jackson and Bubbles statue and
some of Damien Hirst larger works.
